A characterful 18th-century seafront building with fabulous views across Strangford Lough, where a warm welcome and fabulous food await you at this family run hotel. The Portaferry Hotel is located at the corner of The Strand and Castle Street in Portaferry, County Down in the heart of The Ards Peninsula and Strangford Lough, one of the most picturesque parts of Northern Ireland.

Inside, the 14 individually decorated en-suite bedrooms have great sea views, comfortable beds and elegant antique furniture in keeping with the historic building. The restaurant and bar manage to be both spacious and cosy at the same time, thanks to the open fires.

Just a short walk to the Exploris Aquarium or a five-minute ferry ride across to equally pretty Strangford then on to the nearby National Trust mansion of Castleward, famous for its annual opera season and as the setting for Winterfell in Game of Thrones. From there great drives through the lovely tree-lined Georgian village of Clough to Newcastle and the Mourne Mountains. Half an hour north is another great National Trust house, Mount Stewart, with glorious gardens.
